mama’s baggage
Mama’s Baggage (2024) is a sculptural assemblage of memories, textiles, flavors, scents, sounds, and sacred objects from/of home(s)—ancestral tribal homelands, childhood homes, earthly homes—situated in my mother’s original immigrant suitcase. Through the senses, it speaks to the joy and treasures, as well as the pain and sorrows, that our lineages carry on as emotional and physical baggage.
